David – A Short Poem.

38 Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.

1 Samuel 17: 38 - 39

Identity

David..

Take off the tunic that belongs to another

Put on the armor of God

Don’t let them try to change you

Don’t let them try to define you

Don’t live by their standards

You are a shepherd

You are the Lord’s shepherd

Sling shot

“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
1 Samuel 17: 39 - 40

Courage

stainless steel armor

David…

Match forth with courage

Remember the Lord your God

Eyes have not seen

Ears have not heard

What the Lord has for you

Be still and know that He is God

1 Samuel 17:45
45 David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
1 Samuel 17:45

Truimph

David…

You are more than just a young shepherd boy

You are a king

Chosen by He who sits on the throne

Crowned by He who is King of all Kings

Arise, and let the Lord’s victory shine forth through you.

Arise!

You were born for such a time as this!

50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
1 Samuel 17: 50

David! You are the Lord’s victory!
